U-Blox’s NINA-B4 stand-alone Bluetooth 5.1 modules are going to be powered by Nordic’s nRF52833 Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) System-on-Chip (SoC). The open architecture of the NINA-BA Bluetooth LE/ Bluetooth 5.1 MCU allows it to be optimized for Wirepas Massive(previously Wirepas Mesh) a decentralized large-scale mesh networking solution.
The NINA-B406 in the u-blox NINA-B4 series has an internal antenna for providing a robust low-profile solution with high performance and extensive range, whereas the NINA-B400 in the series integrated a U.FL connector for use with an external antenna of the developer’s choice. Additionally, the series come the u-blox’s u-connect software for providing dozens of use cases and an easy-to-use interface to configure the connectivity required from an external application host.
With Bluetooth 5.1 support the NINA-B4 module can operate at an extended temperature range up to 105°C and offers a long-range capability, hence they are suitable for harsh environmental conditions. The angle-of-arrival (AoA) and angle-of-departure (AoD) direction finding function allow the device to act as both transmitter and receiver, providing the benefits of high-precision positions to indoor applications. Nordic’s nRF52833 multiprotocol SoC supports the large-scale, low-power Wirepas Massive mesh connectivity software enabling cost-effective, scalable IoT solutions with density, flexibility, and reliability.
