The Bharti Airtel B2B division, Airtel Business, revealed on Tuesday that it will supply Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL) with over 20 million smart metres. According to a press statement from the company, Airtel will provide dependable and secure connection for all of AESL's smart metre deployments via its national communications network.
In addition, Airtel's NB-IoT (narrowband-internet of things) and 2G-powered smart metering solutions would assist AESL in guaranteeing real-time connectivity and continuous data transfer between smart metres and headend applications. The solution will also come powered with Airtel's IoT platform -- 'Airtel IoT Hub', which enables smart metre tracking and monitoring with advanced analytics and diagnostic capabilities in addition to real-time insights and services that empower customers with enhanced control over their energy consumption,' said the press release. More than 20 million smart metres from the power utilities of Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand are on order with Adani Energy Solutions.
As per a report by Times of India, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, CEO of Airtel Business (India), said, "India’s smart metering programme is one of the most significant policy reform measures undertaken by the Government.
