To simplify bridging Bluetooth sensor data to the cloud, Laird Connectivity has introduced the Sentrius MG100 Micro-Gateway. It is a unique small form factor IoT micro-gateway that is powered by the Pinnacle 100 cellular modem and combines long-range Bluetooth 5 (Nordic nRF52840 silicon) with LTE-M/NB-IoT (Sierra HL7800/Altair ALT1250) thereby offering flexibility. The wireless combination enables new use cases for long-range Bluetooth sensors to bridge sensor data to the MG100 Micro IoT Gateway up to the cloud in a simple and low-cost architecture.
The MG100 Micro-Gateway is cloud-ready and compatible with cloud services like AWS. Leveraging the power and simplicity of Zephyr RTOS programming on the integrated Cortex-M4F microcontroller, the gateway enables developers to make their application as per their specific requirements. Easy customization option in terms of custom branding, packaging, and application development is available. Besides, flexible product options like rechargeable backup battery during a short-term power outage are also available. Additionally, the customers can choose fully integrated antennas or external antennas option as per their requirements.
The newly introduced gateway is based on the Pinnacle 100 modem and it is easy to bridge wireless sensor data to the cloud over an LTE-M/NB-IoT connection. The gateway brings leading wireless technology and software that eliminates complexity, design risk, and certification costs. The MG100 Micro-Gateway & BT510 Starter Kit provides a quick and simple way of evaluating wireless IoT systems.
The starter kit includes one gateway with an installed SIM card, three sensors, and global power supplies. It's a production-ready solution available to speed up the entire process of development. It works in any location with appropriate cellular coverage and the applications include security and building automation, industrial IoT, medical IoT, consumer IoT, and smart buildings.
The MG100 Micro-Gateway will be fully end-device certified from a radio regulatory and LTE carrier perspective, which will reduce the cost of customer applications. The kit will be FCC, IC, CE, BT SIG, PTCRB, GCF, and end-device certified with AT&T, Verizon, and Vodafone certified.
