XGS CMOS Image Sensors from ON Semiconductors

ON Semiconductors has expanded its XGS family of image sensors with the introduction of the XGS 45000XGS 30000, and the XGS 20000. These new image sensors offer high performance, low noise with 12-bit image quality at a high frame rate. They also provide detailed imaging with up to 45 Mp for resolution critical applications and up to 60 fps in 8K video mode.


The XGS 45000, XGS 30000, and XGS 20000 sensors have an image quality of 44.7Mp, 29.8Mp, and 20.3Mp respectively with a 1:1 (square) aspect ratio with 12-bit output at full resolution. The XGS 45000 and XGS 30000 have a readout rate of 48 frames per second, whereas XGS 20000 has a readout rate of 58 frames per second.


The new XGS 5000, designed with low power performance and state-of-the-art image quality for compact 29 x 29 mm2 camera designs is also available. All three XGS 45000, XGS 30000, and XGS 20000 image sensors have a common design and footprint. This helps in supporting multiple resolutions, hence simplifying the design and fastening the time-to-market of new camera design.


With a 3.2µm pixel size and advanced pixel design, all the XGS devices provide high resolution, low noise performance, and image quality that is required in IoT applications such as machine vision and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Other than this, the new image sensors can be used in applications such as industrial cameras and systems, inspection systems, security cameras, etc. The global shutter of the device ensures the capture of moving objects without motion artifacts.
