The partners were even notified that they will have the option to sell the add-on from anytime in the month of October, and it will be available from that month itself
As per media reports, the US based global technology company Microsoft has silently delayed the delivery of an IoT security service, which was expected to be added to the E5 license of its flagship Microsoft 365 service. According to an exclusive report of The Register, Tuesday's note for Microsoft partners reminds them that on September 1 they were shown a price list preview showing a new offering: the "Microsoft Defender for IoT – Enterprise Internet of Things Device License – add-on."
The partners were even notified that they will have the option to sell the add-on from any time in the month of October, and it will be available from that month itself. Therefore, Microsoft already said that they are very likely to miss the deadline. According to the Register, a new partner advisory said, “Due to unexpected system challenges, a decision was made to delay the launch until November 1, 2023.”
The situation turned out to be more tough than expected because the advisory considers that the product is available as purchasable on Microsoft’s price lists. The document added, “However we ask that you don't purchase this SKU until November 1, 2023.” The partners were urged by Microsoft that the price list must be ignored, the suites must not be sold, and customers must know of the latest on-sale date.
The advisory further added, “Share with customers interested in purchasing Microsoft 365 E5 and E5 Security SKUs before November 1, 2023, that Microsoft Defender for IoT – Enterprise IoT protection will be backfilled to those SKUs by the end of November should they desire to purchase Microsoft 365 E5 or E5 Security SKUs before November 1, 2023.”
