HooRii Technology, a Nordic design partner, has launched a new module called HRN71 for use in high-end smart home and lighting applications. The HRN71 module is compatible with Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), Lightweight Machine-to-Machine (LwM2M), and Matter over Thread technologies. The module is designed for applications where space is a constraint, and it is available in two versions - one with a PCB antenna and the other with support for an external antenna.
The module is powered by Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52840 multiprotocol System-on-Chip (SoC), which is Thread certified and suitable for developing products for the Matter connected home ecosystem. The nRF52840 SoC provides reliable and stable performance, making it an ideal solution for space-constrained applications. The HRN71 module also uses the nRF52840 SoC's Thread connectivity for transport and Bluetooth LE connectivity for commissioning new devices to a network.
The HRN71 module runs on HooRiiOS, an operating system that provides development-free Matter firmware and supports various smart home products, including locks, curtain motors, power sockets, and lighting. The small size of the nRF52840 SoC was a crucial factor in the design of the HRN71 module. Nordic's development tools were also important in the design process, thanks to their industry-leading software maturity and stability, excellent documentation, and comprehensive technical information. The launch of the HRN71 module is expected to bring reliable and efficient wireless communication solutions to the high-end smart home and lighting applications market.
